David Kalama, and his brother Ekolu Kalama, crossed the treacherous channel between Molokai and Oahu, a distance of 32 miles, in four hours, 36 minutes and 55 seconds to win the men's stand-up team division. Jamie Mitchell, paddled with his bare hands to win the men's solo division in four hours, 48 minutes and 55 seconds.
