Archie Kalepa of Maui paddles away from Hawaii Kai, after completing an historic crossing of the Kaiwi Channel in 6 hours, 32 minutes and 14 seconds He used an outrigger canoe paddle and stood during the entire 32 miles between the Hawaiian islands of Molokai and Oahu, during the Quiksilveredition Molokai to Oahu Paddleboard Race. Kalepa was not officially part of that competition. Kalepa is a big wave surfer, tow-in instructor, lifeguard, tandem surfer, and canoe paddler.
